It is true that people who experience major tragedy in their lives such as an assault, serious accident, natural disaster, death of a close loved one, or major medical events will experience the effects of trauma in their life, but trauma is not limited to experiences of this nature. Being alive during the pandemic is a collective trauma experience we all share in one way or another. Experiences such as working a high stress job, working a support job, being cheated on by a romantic partner, being rejected by family, losing a job, losing a loved one or beloved pet, being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease or illness, being bullied, not feeling like you fit in, struggling to make friends or build relationships, not having the best childhood, or not feeling like you have somewhere to truly belong can have traumatic effects.
As a coach I help clients identify how trauma is affecting them today and help them set recovery goals to move toward the future they desire. I meet my clients where they're at in a peer-to-peer approach and allow the sessions to be client led. By keeping this mindset, I am able to support clients in stretching their window of tolerance, find their voice and create a space for them to feel safe to learn to appropriately express themselves without the worry of emotional or social consequences. We create a big picture view of our client's story by mapping out a framework from their past experiences, but our focus is in the now. I can provide education and guidance pertaining to the biological, psychological, emotional and relational effects that trauma (big and small) can have on a person.
Therapists have the education and licensing necessary to help when a client’s mental health is unstable and requires diagnosis, assessment and treatment. They direct their client’s care, create a care plan and provide intervention when a client is not able to help themselves. Therapists also have advanced expertise dealing with some issues, such as addiction, eating disorders and active suicidal ideation.
I specialize in working with adults of all ages who are seeking support with a variety of challenges in their life. My coaching sessions take place online over Zoom or in person in the arena surrounded by my equine team. I can help those who are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, or grief to reconnect with themselves and plug back in. I can gently guide people that have symptoms of unresolved trauma from childhood, adolescence, teen years, or symptoms of CPTSD even if they're not aware that their past may have been traumatic. I also have a passion for working with my fellow professionals in the mental health field, professionals in the medical field and professionals in the veterinarian field. Those who support others need support and understanding too! I have a deep passion for helping people who are feeling alone, don’t feel seen or heard by others, struggling to connect in relationships, struggling to connect with themselves, lacking confidence, feeling lost, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, or lacking emotions, needing guidance in bringing awareness to their trauma story, or just really needing someone to talk to that will actually listen. I am ready to help those who are ready to grow from where they feel stuck, even those who feel like its "Probably not a big deal" or think "Others have had it worse" and, my personal favorite, those who feel they "need to learn to suck it up and get over it." I'm here to share with you that there is another way!
